Well this week was a pretty good week! We had zone conference which was very good. We learned a lot about finding new investigators and how to begin teaching in a more effective way. We also learned about the importance of finding new people ALL THE TIME and talking with EVERYONE!! Hna Goates talked about the different attributes of Christ and how we can develop them in our times of trials and difficultades. It was a very informative and helpful conference.
We have been working a lot these past few weeks with Teresa so that she can have spiritual experiences and so that she can hear the testimonies of different members. We know that she feels the spirit and knows that it is true but she still does not want to get baptized until she reads the entire Book of Mormon alone to "understand the religion." It´s good that she wants to read it and all but it is going to be a long process and I think that she is lacking in faith but we don’t want to put too much pressure on her because we do not want her to get frustrated with us and give it all up all together. I know she will get baptized but not in my time, but the Lord´s...patience...grr...
This week we had a great lesson with Lourdes. We went with her friend from the church Melissa and we all had a fun but also very spiritual experience. We played the games telephone and talked about how it is like the apostasy, where parts of the original truth were changed or lost and that false parts we added into the true church of Jesus Christ. We then told the first vision story and shared our testimonies about how we came to know that the Church is true and how we have received answered to our prayers. We then asked Lourdes if she wants to be baptized and she said yes! However, she would not accept a date because she is afraid of causing problems with her mom who does not like the church very much. I could see in her eyes that she truly wants to be baptized. We don’t want to cause tension in her family but she also needs to be baptized because she knows that it is true and is already living as a member just without the ordinance. I feel stuck without a good solution.
This week we have been focusing a TON on finding new investigators. We have been tocando puertas in different neighborhoods that we have never really worked in before and we have been leaving prayers in their houses and asking for lots of referencias. (Sorry about the really bad spanglish haha) But we have found some really interesting and prepared people that can become great new investigators. Last night I felt the impression to go visit a man that lived super far away from where we were. Hermana Harris just said "ok" and we went. Well he was not home but we were able to find about 4 families that live near him that listened to us and that have great potential to become investigators! That was a great experiences and it taught me that we need to follow the small impressions of the spirit and sometimes we have these impressions for different reason that we had originally thought. Sometimes the work is a long and slow progress but I have faith that with the guide of the Lord we will see a baptism in this ward very soon!!!!
I ask for your prayers and support!
Con mucho amor,
Sarah <3
