Well this week was a little crazy!
On Monday night we traveled the 4 hours by bus to Mendoza for Consejo de lideres(leaders). It was a good conference and we talked a lot about good tips that will help strengthen our teachings and will help us have more success. I am very excited to put them to practice. We also had a fun time seeing all of the hna liders of the mission. I love going to consejo and seeing everyone, fun times.
Then we traveled back to San Rafael Tuesday night. We got home late and discovered that we did not have electricity. So basically there was a mix up in the mission office and our light bill was never paid so we spent a good time trying to fix the problem. Well 3 days later we finally fixed the problem and the turned our lights back on Friday. We spent 3 days without light...how fun! How cold!! But we survived!! Haha fun mission memories!
We found out Monday that the sisters from 1B were going to return Wednesday! Now they are back in the ward. Hna Cortez recovered super fast in Mendoza so the pres. let her come back to her area, I am so happy that they are back!
Well despite the fact that we were out of our area for 2 days, we were able to work hard and have some great experiences. First off, our investigator Virginia is progressing a a lot. We had a good lesson with her about the plan of salvation, she said that she is reading the Book of Mormon and she came to church this Sunday. She stayed for the whole 3 hours and even participated in relief society and the gospel principles class. We have another lesson with her today and we are going to talk about the importance of baptism and we are going to extend her a baptismal date. I am very excited for our lesson tonight!
We also are seeing some slow but true progress with our less active member Graciela. She smokes a lot and is trying to give it up. Well, this week she received a blessing from our mission leader and it seemed to have gone well. She also has started reading the Book of Mormon for the first time in years. Her progress is slow but I have faith that she will be reactivated.
We have a lot of new investigators with a lot of potential and I am very happy with the progress that we are seeing and will be seeing in the area! I hope that I wont be transferred next week because I truly love this area and my comp. Hna Harris. I know that saying that I don’t want to leave almost automatically means that I am out of here, but I hope that I have one more transfer here.
We also had an "extra pday" this week on Saturday because we couldn’t work Saturday night because of the copa america between Argentina and Chile! (Because people here are crazy with their futbol and everyone, and I mean EVERYONE was inside watching the game and also it is potentially dangerous with all the drunks about.) So it was mission rule to be inside the pench by 4:30 in the afternoon. So we had a relaxing afternoon. Argentina lot and so everyone has been super depressed the past few days hahaha
Weird story of the week: The other day we were standing in the line at Vea the supermarket and I heard a voice behind me say "hola" I turned and it was an older man standing super close behind me. He said (in a direct spanish translation) "hello little girl, can I have your eyes?" I did not know how to respond so I asked him to repeat himself and he said again "can I have your eyes? we can trade. You can have mine, they work well, and I can have yours because they are so beautiful." I was kinda weirded out but I was able to make a joke like, "wow that would hurt a lot!" Then he laughed, patted me on the back and walked away. I am used to people making comments about my eyes but this was the 1st times that someone basically said that they wanted to cut out and use my eyes! That whole night hna Harris was teasing me about it. haha weird...
