This week was a pretty good week. The work is still going slow but I can feel that it is starting to pick up speed a little. This new week we have some good plans and we are going to focus on bringing the members to lessons with us even if the lessons are not super set because at least it will help us create bonds with the members, and will show them that we are working and that we need their help. I am excited for this week!
Last week we had a few good lessons and some cool experiences. We (well hermana Avalos) did a service project and helped an investigators daughter to prepare for her math test (hna Avalos was studying to be a high school math teacher.) So that was good because we gained more of their confidence and the daughter felt much more prepared to take her test. It was a cool example of how we can use our different talents to help in the work and to serve others.
This week we had a noche de hogar with a less active family and we watched the movie together forever. It has been a long time since I have seen the movie and it really helped me realize how the gospel can really help anyone with whatever problem that they might have. The gospel is the solution for EVERYTHING!! The NDH went well and then they came to church this Sunday!!
This month here in South America is bring a friend to church month. The stake president set the example this week and brought a friend to our ward (not even his ward) because the man lives in our area. The man stayed for 2 hours and agreed to receive us in his house this next week. The stake president was super excited. It truly makes the difference when the leaders and members are involved in the work of salvation!
We ate lunch yesterday with the bishop and his family. They are such a cute, young family with super adorable kids. Their oldest son (8 years old) told us a funny/ serious story at dinner. He told us that one-day he was really thinking about and questioning if Jesus really lives and is our savior and he was thinking about that a lot when he went to take a bath. Well in the bathtub he told us that he looked up and saw written on his shampoo He lives (it is a brand of shampoo) and received his answer that yes He lives. Hahaha but he was really serious! That was his answer. We laughed a lot about it and that when he is a bishop or stake pres he will tell everyone his conversion story of shampoo!! Haha But they are really good kids and you can really see and feel the difference when the gospel is taught and lived in a family.
One kind of sad thing is that we have not been able to have contact with our investigator Yanina. She called us last Monday to tell us to pray for her brother because he tried to commit suicide and was in the hospital. We have tried calling her and passing by her house several times this week, and we know nothing of her or her brother. We are very concerned about her. Please keep her in your prayers.
Apart from that, we have had a good week and I am super excited for this next week because I am determined to make it a good and successful week!!
