After a crazy week, Alicia got baptized this Saturday! It was such a great experience full of great miracles. I have seen such a drastic change in her in the short time that I have been here and the people who have known her longer have seen an even greater progression and change. It is a great testimony builder for me to see proof that anyone can change. It does not matter how old you are or who you once were, the atonement can work through you to change your whole being.
One great miracle that we saw this week was that a sister from barrio villa de parque came to the baptism a little early and she explained to us that she is the neighbor of Alicia's daughter and that she has been sending the missionaries to her house for years. She said that Alicia's daughter invited her to the baptism and that she was super excited! The sister also showed us her temple dress and asked if Alicia could use it for the baptism! The night before we had found a dress that was the right size for Alicia but it was kinda ugly and we were not too happy about it, but it was the only one that we could find that would fit her. When Alicia tried on the temple dress and it fit perfectly and she looked beautiful!!
We had a pretty good turn out from the ward at the baptism. Alicia's daughter and 2 of her great granddaughters came. It was a very spiritual experience for everyone there. Alicia was crying and after her baptism she told us that she just feels so much peace and tranquility. Her daughter Cristina was also crying during the baptism. She said that she felt the Holy Spirit very strongly and that she cannot believe the great change that she has seen in her mother. The bishop performed the baptism and he said that her was very touched by the whole experience. Hermano Lucero, a long-time friend of Alicia performed the confirmation. Hermano Lucero has gone with us to about every lesson with Alicia and he had waited a long time for this day. I am so grateful to have had this great experience and to have had the opportunity to help Alicia to make this decision and to make a covenant with our Father.
Besides the baptism, things have been going very slowly in our area. We have been working hard but we are just passing through a little rough patch with finding and teaching. But we have faith that we will be able to find some new golden investigators this week and help them get to baptism!
Well I love you all soooo much!! Have a wicked wacky week!! hehe
Con amor,
Sarah
